The New Orleans Saints will travel to East Rutherford to face the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in Week 6 of the 2026 NFL season, a matchup that has become highly anticipated by both fan bases over the offseason.
This matchup is one of the most intriguing on the schedule to me personally. As soon as Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough took off and started gaining traction in the Offensive Rookie of the Year race last season, a debate emerged between the two fanbases, with Giants fans arguing
on behalf of their own rookie quarterback in Jaxson Dart. Ultimately, Shough finished second in voting for the award and Dart finished fourth, which only added more fuel to a storyline that has carried through the offseason.
The Saints were able to get the best of Dart and the Giants with a 26–14 win in Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season at Caesars Superdome. Despite a strong start where Dart threw back-to-back early touchdowns, he followed that with five consecutive turnovers in the second half—including two interceptions and an untouched fumble—to further strengthen the momentum of the Saints defense.
However, those Saints were led by QB Spencer Rattler rather than Shough, so it will be interesting to see two of the stars of the 2025 draft class go head-to-head with Shough officially leading the way for New Orleans.
It’s also worth noting that John Harbaugh and his staff have arrived in New York, so the Giants could look like a completely different football team for all we know. Additionally, we’ll have to see how the Saints match up with them without Demario Davis leading the pack on defense.
Early prediction for me is that the Saints can come out with another victory considering the explosiveness and stability they’ve added on offense with players such as Travis Etienne, Jordyn Tyson and David Edwards, among others. I also feel that Kaden Elliss will do a better job of filling the void left by Davis than many think, and that the Saints’ young defensive backs will take a leap this season. It should be interesting to see how they fare against Malik Nabers and co.
