The Seattle Seahawks did have an NFC Player of the Week winner as expected, but not the one you might be thinking of.
Rookie safety Nick Emmanwori lost NFC Defensive Player of the Week to the Detroit Lions’
Al-Quadin Muhammad and his three sacks against the Dallas Cowboys, but the Seahawks were so dominant against Atlanta that they had to come away with something. Wide receiver and return specialist Rashid Shaheed sparked Seattle’s 2nd half rout with a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown, marking his first career kick return TD and the longest touchdown of the 2025 NFL season.
Shaheed has developed a reputation as a dangerous punt returner, but he can also return kicks, and the Seahawks’ elite special teams unit just got even better.
According to the NFL, Shaheed is the sixth Seahawks wide receiver to win Special Teams Player of the Week honors and the first one to win since Tyler Lockett back in 2017. It’s also his first ever Player of the Week award whether on offense or special teams.
The bigger development beyond that touchdown was his four catches for 67 yards, his best performance by far as a receiver since coming over via trade in November. That, more than his special teams capabilities, could be key down the stretch for Seattle’s offense.
