Barcelona will have to cope without defender Gerard Martin on Saturday when they resume La Liga action against Villarreal at the Camp Nou.
Martin picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Levante on Sunday and so will serve a one-match ban, ruling him out of the game against the Yellow Submarine.
The ban means Hansi Flick will have to make changes to his defence. Joao Cancelo will be hoping to continue at left-back after impressing against Levante, while Pau Cubarsi could return after being
given a breather.
Meanwhile, Frenkie de Jong and Jules Kounde will have to be careful against Villarreal. Both players have been booked four times and another one on Saturday will also result in a suspension.
Barcelona will face Villarreal after returning to the top of the table by beating Levante after Real Madrid slipped up against Osasuna.
Flick’s side can extend their lead at the top with another win as Real Madrid don’t play again in La Liga until Monday when they host Getafe.
Los Blancos are in midweek action of course. Alvaro Arbeloa’s side face a Champions League play-off second leg against Benfica and lead 1-0 from the first game.
