Summary: The staff spent last season watching their defense control football games, and keep the team competitive even when the offense was sputtering. That looked pretty nice, so they decided they wanted to keep that momentum going and hit the portal hard for some veteran experience. Veteran is certainly a word that comes to mind when you talk about Norwood. Coming out of the St. Louis area in high school
the secondary standout found a home at Iowa Western CC, and then navigated to Iowa State the following two years. After some time in the Corn Palace of the United States he traveled over to Ball State for a year and then caught enough eyes to go play for South Carolina in 2025, appearing in ten games for the Gamecocks. And now…he’s here.
So while it may be hard to argue on his behalf when it comes to “consistency” there is no doubt he has the reps and the experience to prove nothing will come as a surprise to him. Currently forecasted to be a two deep corner for the defense, adding guys like this can help maintain a high level of performance in what might have otherwise been “gap years” in position groups five or six season ago. This is the type of guy who has enough talent to help the team, provide some great depth, but probably isn’t going to be a household name at seasons end, and that’s okay. Glad to have him onboard…..and he’s already used to beating Kentucky, so he’ll fit right in.
