Darby Allin defended the TNT title against Kyle Fletcher tonight (Oct. 6) at AEW Grand Slam France.
Darby’s last AEW match ended with a referee stoppage after Steven Borden got knocked out on a high risk mid-air collision. That didn’t stop Darby from going to the extreme here in France. First up is this wild spot that caused AEW commentator Tony Schiavone to be grateful that Doc Sampson was right there to witness, just in case he was needed. Kyle’s back was bleeding after this one.
Darby only upped the ante from there with this insane bump moments later.
Darby wasn’t finished damaging his body, as he also Coffin Dropped the ring apron.
A regular brainbuster isn’t dangerous enough for Darby, so he also took Kyle’s turnbuckle brainbuster on the exposed steel, which caused the blood to flow from his skull.
The daredevil TNT champ survived all that pain and managed to put Fletcher away with a Scorpion Deathlock followed by two Coffin Drops.
I don’t know if Darby Allin will be able to walk 20 years from now taking crazy bumps at this rate, but if his primary goal is to put on can’t-miss hardcore spot fests in AEW, then he’s succeeding at an elite level. My goodness, this was nuts.
