Super middleweight standout Osleys Iglesias notched his biggest win to date this evening by dismantling former title challenger Vladimir Shishkin in their IBF final eliminator.
Shishkin (16-2, 10 KO), who fell just short against William Scull for the vacant belt last year, showed ridiculous toughness but not all that much else. Iglesias (14-0, 13 KO) hammered him with combinations for the first seven rounds before finally staggering him with a long straight left in the eighth. While Shishkin somehow
managed to stay on his feet as Iglesias sold out with haymakers, a barrage on the ropes earned Iglesias the TKO and his first victory of 2025.
Iglesias is now theoretically in line to face Canelo Alvarez within the next twelve months, but Alvarez has already proven willing to discard the belt rather than face a mandatory challenger who’s not to his liking. Hopefully he’ll get some sort of spotlight fight in the near future; the winner of Christian Mbilli vs Lester Martinez would make for a slobberknocker.
Belarusian lightweight Dzmitry Asanau and Colombian super lightweight Jhon Orobio picked up quick knockouts on the undercard, as did French-Canadian super middleweight Moreno Fendero.
