Lenée Beaumont is a redshirt sophomore returning for Indiana after having missed the entirety of the 2024-25 season with a knee injury, undergoing surgery last December.
Here’s what you need to know about her ahead of the season.
The Background
Beaumont starred at Benet Academy in Lisle, Illinois, winning the state’s Ms. Basketball award in 2023. She committed to Indiana out of high school, playing sparingly off the bench as a freshman in 2023-24 before missing 2024-25 undergoing rehab.
With the Hoosiers experiencing
substantial roster turnover this past offseason, Beaumont was one of the few to remain in Bloomington and, according to Teri Moren, has stepped up as a leader.
The Stats and the Skillset
It’d be a bit unfair to rely on Beaumont’s incomplete college stats given her limited role as a freshman. As a senior at Benet Academy, she averaged 18.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
She can handle the ball, has good size for the backcourt at 6’1”, can get to her spots, especially in the midrange, and knows how to get to the rim. That size is handy on the defensive end of the court, where Indiana will probably need her the most.
The Role
Given her skillset, Beaumont is versatile enough as a player to play multiple different positions in Indiana’s backcourt. With her experience in the program relative to her teammates in mind, she’ll probably do so as a starter, potentially running point or at the wing given that Shay Ciezki is pretty locked in at shooting guard.
As an aside, that’s probably what fascinates me most about Indiana this year. The Hoosiers will have a point guard who isn’t named Chloe Moore-McNeil for the first time in a few years.
