It’s increasingly hard to keep track of things, but the NCAA has won a stay of the order that allowed all 2022 recruits to have an extra year of eligibility.
In order to be eligible now, you have to win in a state court, which means that numerous suits will be filed by Monday morning, if not sooner.
We’re not 100% certain – it depends on who was granted eligibility and in what court, and who the hell knows at this point – but we’re pretty sure this means Seth Trimble is out at Louisville. We’re not sure what it means for
Ven-Allen Lubin.
As for former Duke and Missouri forward Mark Mitchell, his case is being heard in the Jefferson County Circuit Court, in Louisville. The judge there is taking his time, too.
Our theory: he doesn’t want to commit until he knows whether Mitchell will choose Kentucky or Louisville. That way, he’ll know which way to run after his ruling.
Kidding! There are many other athletes involved in that suit. Still, whatever judge decides, he’s going to catch it from either Kentucky or Louisville fans.
