The Cincinnati Bengals will play their preseason finale on Friday when they hit the road to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. It will also be the final chance for guys on the bubble to show they deserve to make the final cuts, which will be made by Sunday at 6:00 PM ET.
As expected, the Bengals will hold their starters out of the contest, head coach Zac Taylor announced on Wednesday. So we won’t be seeing any Joe Burrow, Tee Higgins, Dexter Lawrence, B.J. Hill, or Ja’Marr Chase. We may not even see certain
backups who have their 53-man roster spots locked up, as evidenced by guys like Cashius Howell sitting out last week without having an injury.
This is good news for guys like Dohnte Meyers, Landon Robinson, Isaiah Foskey, Mitchell Tinsley, and Charlie Jones as they fight to secure their spots. It’s likely that several of those names mentioned already have their spots secured and may sit out Friday. That would leave the true bubble players to get all of the reps Friday, as they get every chance possible to earn their spot on the Week 1 roster.
If nothing else, this will be a chance for the bubble players to produce more good film for other teams to see if they don’t make the Bengals’ roster.
