Happy Wednesday everyone, we’ve got lots and lots of WBC content to get into in today’s news brief, so let’s not waste any time.
Today we’ve got Tarik Skubal sharing why he decided to leave the WBC after a single game (something he had already announced even before the Classic began), and as predicted: he’s looking out for his health in what will be the most valuable season of his career as he prepares to head into free agency next offseason. While many might not understand Skubal’s decision, it’s
both the smart and right one for him to have made to protect himself.
We’ve also got a little bit of WBC drama as some potential beef is brewing between Mariners teammates Cal Raleigh and Randy Arozarena.
Plus, a look at the 2026 Tigers’ broadcast team. Let’s jump right into it!

While he also said he’d be first in line to sign up for the Olympics if asked, he did admit that the choice gave him some sleepless nights. Check out Chandler Rome’s article linked above for more from Skubal.
