NFC East.
The Floor: Ultimately, it remains low with so many questionable variables. The sample is small for Dart, and two key cogs (Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo) are coming back from major injuries. If the Eagles are the Eagles, a better defense helps Dallas bounce back, and Washington can rediscover what got it to the NFC title game in 2024, the Giants could be in for a third consecutive last-place campaign.

The voter highest on the Giants pointed to their defense. “They have a lot of pieces on defense, and I really liked their draft,” this exec said. “(John) Harbaugh will play everything close, and they’ll be in a ton of one-score games, and we’ll see what happens in the moment of truth. They’re a candidate for those games to play out really well.”
Questions at quarterback, running back and receiver persist. “I like the Giants’ potential on defense,” another exec said. “Abdul Carter, Arvell Reese, Brian Burns. But then I don’t know how good that secondary is at corner. They lost Dexter Lawrence in the middle. On offense, Jaxson Dart’s health, Cam Skattebo’s health and Malik Nabers’ health are all concerns. There’s a lot of unknown.”

Slayton, the longest-tenured Giant, has gotten used to uncertainty over his standing and the need to repeatedly prove his worth.
“That’s mostly kind of been exacerbated by the turnover [in coaching staffs],” Slayton said. “Anytime there’s new people, there’s going to be that. Just for me, I’ve just been fortunate to be here for four staffs. I don’t take it personally. I understand that you have to show and prove yourself whenever there’s new [coaches]. That’s what I plan to do this year.”
Giants’ Greg Newsome: ‘I like our chances’ against ‘dynamic’ Cowboys receivers | New York Daily News
As the Steelers’ final play Hail Mary soared incomplete, Pickens dragged Newsome out of the back of the end zone by his helmet as the players engaged. Newsome fought Pickens off. And that set off a full-blown fight as the clock hit zero. Security guards appeared to pull Pickens off Newsome as their tussle spilled into one of the front rows of the stands. After the game, Newsome called Pickens a “fake tough guy” and said Pickens’ behavior was “unnecessary.”
“He’s great at the catch point,” Newsome said of Pickens. “That’s something he’s been great at since he got in the league is just being able to make the tough catches. You’ve got number 88, CeeDee [Lamb], he can line up anywhere, do a lot of great things. Definitely great players but I like our chances.”

Don’t be surprised if … tight end Isaiah Likely is a breakout star in New York.
What I’m hearing: Giants coaches light up when talking about Likely, the free agent signee who came over from Baltimore with coach John Harbaugh. They believe he’ll be a real asset for Jaxson Dart as a receiver and think he can win in both man and zone coverage. And they love the way he has embraced and evolved his relationship with Dart since he has been in New York. Likely is a regular visitor to the quarterbacks room, and the connection he has formed with Dart on and off the field could pay major dividends. Likely is a strong candidate to be the team’s second-leading receiver this season and could be even more than that if top wideout Malik Nabers needs time to get up to speed coming off his injury.
NFL’s 9/11 tributes to be held throughout Week 1 to honor 25th anniversary | SB Nation
The Sunday Night Football game hosted by the New York Giants will feature a massive 9/11 tribute. Players, coaches and staff from both teams will wear commemorative NYPD, FDNY and PAPD hats on the sideline in recognition of the first responders who served on September 11 and in the days that followed. Players and coaches from both teams will also wear special 9/11-branded “Never Forget” T-shirts during pregame warmups.
The NFL Foundation, and the charitable foundations of the New York Giants, New York Jets and Washington Commanders will jointly donate $1 million to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum while also providing additional grants for education and remembrance.
