Manuel Neuer is one of the greatest, if not the greatest goalkeeper of all time. Sadly for fans of the sport, that time is coming to an end sooner and sooner as the years pass by. The now 40-year-old legend has been contemplating his options and with just weeks left in the season, will need to make up his mind soon.
While the clear two options are to extend his time in Munich or to retire, an interesting option has been rumored recently. Interest from Premier League clubs is clear but would Neuer
even consider going to a lesser club when Bayern Munich are arguably the strongest club in the world right now? Not likely.
What is likely is that Neuer could retire with Bayern Munich this season.
“The sooner the better, I’d like to make a decision. But I’m not making it dependent on titles. Ideally, I’d like us to win them all. I haven’t personally decided yet, but it won’t be long before I do. And then there will be talks with the club,” said Neuer in the pre-match conference on Tuesday, as captured by @iMiaSanMia.
Neuer has stated that it is not based on titles, but it is hard to write a better fairy-tale ending than Neuer retiring with a Champions League title after this season. Another twist is a possible return to the national team should Nagelsmann call up the legendary goalkeeper but what is clear is that Neuer will be making his decision soon.
