The Washington Spirit have announced the signing of Cameroonian midfielder Monique Ngock through the 2028 NWSL season with an option for the 2029 season. Ngock will join from French Première Ligue side, FC Fleury 91, who will receive an undisclosed transfer fee from the Spirit.
“With the Spirit, I know I can grow into the best version of myself as a player,” said Ngock in a statement. “The impressive track record and culture created by the team and the staff has made the club a very attractive destination
for me and I can’t wait to get started.”
The 21-year-old helped FC Fleury 91 reach top five in the Première Ligue with 19 appearances and scored two goals from the midfield in her first season with the club. Prior to that Ngock played three seasons with Stade de Reims Féminines helping the club earn promotion to the first division.
“Monique Ngock is a player with qualities very compatible with our roster and style of play,” said Sporting Director James Hocken in a statement. “We look forward to her arrival in DC and strong development potential at the Spirit.”
Ngock has also competed for Cameroon at the senior national team level in 2022, and has played for the youth national team at different levels. In 2024 Ngock was a member of Cameroon’s U-20 national team in the U-20 Women’s World Cup. Cameroon got out of the group stage to reach the round of 16 in that tournament before being eliminated by Brazil.
