Good morning, Broncos Country. Tonight, the Denver Broncos host the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football. With a 7-2 record, the Broncos are the leaders of the AFC West and have flourished after
starting the season 1-2. Winners of their past six games, the momentum and homefield advantage are clearly in their favor.
Tonight’s rivalry gridiron matchup against the Raiders presents them with an opportunity to get their eighth win of the year. That would be the most through ten games dating back to the 2015 season. Additionally, a victory would bolster their standings and presence in a completive AFC playoff race.
Things haven’t been perfect for the Broncos this year, but their mental toughness and resilience are a primary reason they have been competing so well. For the first two seasons of the Sean Payton era, Denver struggled in one-score games. For their ‘25 campaign, they’ve made a drastic turnaround and have five wins to two losses in close matchups.
Ugly wins are wins, and the Broncos will gladly take them. Though this evening, the Broncos are hoping to put their best foot forward. They’ve had some impressive victories but are still in pursuit of complete game in all three phases.
“We feel like we haven’t even played a complete game offensively, much less as a team. I think once we start doing that, then we have to be careful about being too lax. Until then, we’re all in a growth mindset,” stated quarterback Bo Nix who talked about the offense still being a work in progress.
Nix has been one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league from a touchdown standpoint. However, accuracy issues have caused him to experience a drop-off in several key metrics this year. Even so, there is reason for optimism.
The team has a group of young playmakers who have all excelled at some point in the season. We have seen the big plays from rookie running back RJ Harvey who has been getting extensive use as a passing option in Denver’s offense. On top of that, we have seen decisive runs from J.K. Dobbins who has been an asset on first and second downs averaging more than five yards per carry.
While drops have been an issue, big-time catches in key moments from the receiving corps have flashed on a weekly basis. The consistency hasn’t been there and the growing pains of a young offense still learning and developing are evident. Nevertheless, Nix believes the best is yet to come for the Broncos’ offense during the second half of the season.
“You just continue to find ways to hit the next one, and you don’t worry about what you’ve missed or what plays have gone by. You have to focus on hitting the next one. Right now, that’s where our mindset is as an offense and as a team. We’re just all focused on the next one,” added Nix.
