Newcastle United’s injury problems have remained a major issue during a difficult run of three defeats in four Premier League matches, with Matthias Jaissle still waiting for several players to return and his seat getting hotter by the day.
The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope revealed on Wednesday that Tino Livramento is recovering from a knee injury first suffered in training last month.
“Confidential can exclusively reveal that Livramento has suffered a knee injury,” Hope reported. “Given his history of
significant knee problems, the club are understandably cautious.”
The problem was initially thought to be minor, but further testing showed the England defender required a period of rest and rehabilitation.
“He has avoided serious injury, I understand, and has been doing some light work on the grass the past week or so,” Hope reported.
The defender was forced to withdraw from England duty during the previous international window, and Hope added that he is unlikely to be available for next month’s internationals either. Livramento’s absence has further reduced Jaissle’s defensive options, but confirmation that the knee problem is not considered serious should provide some relief as Newcastle works toward getting him back on the pitch.
