Full-back Ona Batlle is officially a Gunner. The signing of the 27-year-old was confirmed today by Arsenal. She joined the London club on a free transfer.
“Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I can’t wait to feel the joy of playing in front of our supporters at Emirates Stadium alongside so many great players,” said Batlle. “I want to win trophies and I feel this is the right place to achieve that.”
According to
reports, her contract is a 4-year deal with an option for an additional year.
After spending three seasons with Barcelona, where she made 114 appearances and scored 14 goals and won three league titles, three Spanish Cups, three Spanish Super Cups and two Champions League titles, she decided to join the Gunners.
This is a big move by Arsenal, getting one of the best defenders in the world, and it strengthens the roster considerably for the next season, when they will try to take the main stage after spending their last season mostly under the shadows of Manchester City and Chelsea.
