With the college basketball transfer portal set to open on April 7, there is growing optimism surrounding Kentucky forward Kam Williams and his future in Lexington.
According to Larry Vaught of Vaughts’ Views, Williams is “planning” to return to Kentucky, though the situation remains fluid as roster decisions unfold.
Vaught shared the following on social media:
“Transfer portal opens at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday but remember players have two weeks to enter the portal. As of now Kam Williams still planning
to be back at Kentucky from all I am hearing but all could change depending on who UK might add to roster in next 2 weeks. Stressful moments ahead.”
Williams, who transferred from Tulane, showed flashes during his sophomore season with the Wildcats. He averaged 6.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game while shooting an efficient 44.9% from the field and 35.9% from 3-point range. He appeared in 24 games, making seven starts and averaging 18.5 minutes per contest.
Williams faced some adversity during the season when he suffered a broken foot against Texas on January 21. However, Williams made a quick return in less than two months, contributing in the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament.
With the portal window closing April 21 and recruiting activity continuing through April, Kentucky’s roster decisions could ultimately influence Williams’ final choice.
