Turki Alalshikh is one of the biggest names in boxing.
The Zuffa Boxing co-founder has helped fund several of the biggest matchups in boxing in recent years, producing some incredibly marquee events and bouts. Because of Alalshikh and his seemingly limitless bankroll, athletes like Tyson Fury, Canelo Alvarez, and Oleksandr Usyk have faced top-level competitors and earned career-high paydays.
For better or worse, Alalshikh has disrupted the boxing industry in a significant manner. Partially as a result
of his influence, there’s more than one feud between boxing promoters currently. UFC’s Dana White is a frequent flyer, as he’s boldly talked smack against most of boxing’s establishment with Alalshikh by his side as part of Zuffa Boxing.
Unfortunately, Alalshikh has been dealing with some health issues for years now. While he’s never been overly transparent about the details, it’s widely-known that Alalshikh has battled cancer and dealt with a brain tumor for a long time. Because of these struggles, Alalshikh is concerned about his cognitive abilities imminently fading and hopes to clear the air before that happens.
“I’ll do my best to do a meeting soon between my brothers Dana White, Nick Khan, Frank Warren, Eddie Hearn, and my partners and friends,” Alalshikh told Ring Magazine. “To make peace and revolution for boxing. I hope I succeed and boxing fans see the white smoke rise from the chimney.
“I want to do it before losing my memory. I’m afraid in 2028 or 2029 I’ll forget my name.”
One of the athletes who has worked with Alalshikh is Ryan Garcia, the current WBC Welterweight champion. Reacting to Alalshikh’s above statement, Garcia wrote the following post on X: “Turki it hurts to hear what you are going thru! Your passion for the sport and the effort you put in has been already revolutionary. It has not been overlooked or taken for granted at least by me and I’m sure by many others. I’ll be at my best to show you this sport no matter what happens will be in good hands. You are a fighter! A champion and a hall of famer for boxing.”
