Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Pirates fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly
emailed surveys.
This week’s question has to do with Mitch Keller. Despite a 6-15 recrod this season, Keller had another workhorse-like season, finishing with a 4.19 ERA and 150 strikeouts in 176 innings pitched along with a a 1.259 WHIP. He wasn’t Pittsburgh’s best pitcher, but he was a key component of the team strength starting pitching staff.
What we want to know is should the Pirates trade Keller this offseason for some hitting help? He’s due $16.9 million this coming season, and he’s probably their most valuable starting rotation piece on the open market other than Paul Skenes. The Ben Cherington factor should also be considered. He’s not exactly known for winning trades.
