Hours after Illinois’ October exhibition win over Illinois State, forward Ben Humrichous made headlines on Instagram, announcing his engagement to former Illini women’s basketball star Adalia McKenzie.
And hours after Illinois’ historic Braggin’ Rights win over Missouri, the two tied the knot.
After Monday’s win, Humrichous told reporters: “She’s been such a blessing to me. She’s one of my biggest fans. She encourages me, she points me to Jesus when I’m having a hard time. She’s incredible.”
It sounds
like the wedding was set for the spring, but moved up when the team got some time off this week for Christmas.
Humrichous scored nine points in the win over the Tigers, including two threes late in the game. He’s averaging 6.6 points this season.
McKenzie graduated in May after playing in all 125 possible games during her Illini career, the sixth-most in program history. She scored 1,495 points, good for 13th on Illinois’ career scoring list.
