Sean Patton scored his first goal for the Royals in a 1-0 victory against MK Dons in the Vertu Trophy at the SCL Stadium.
He netted in the 88th minute to secure the win and his first goal for Reading. Manager
Noel Hunt was delighted for and proud of the goalscorer. Here is what he had to say, he spoke to the official club website.
Hunt on Patton
“Young Sean is not long over – he’s a great kid who wants to learn with great talent and who works hard. I’m delighted for him to stay alive in the box, and it was something we worked on so it’s pleasing to see it come off on the pitch.
“These goals are counted as senior goals for the football club so it’s a very proud moment for him – he was buzzing and I’m buzzing for him.”
Hunt on the Dons frustrating the Royals
“With such a low block and 11 men behind the ball… when you have 11 men in the box and you add your lads in there too it’s tough. Good teams will find a way, you have to keep probing and asking the question, and they did.”
Hunt on Yiadom returning to the side
“I thought he did really well. It was his first competitive game since the end of last season so let’s see how he reacts and settles then we take it from there.
“It’s the first step for him. We have to be careful and use him wisely, but we have to put him into games to see how he is. He looked like he came through it with flying colours.”
