New Bayern Munich signing Nicolas Jackson endured an emotionally draining pathway to get to Bavaria. But now that he has finally arrived on loan from Chelsea, he is locked in and ready to go.
“Very strong emotions, but not for the reasons you might think,” Jackson revealed of what he went through in his move, in a conversation with Tutto Sport (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I was simply very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world, to discover another league and other great players.
At the same time, I was a bit sad to leave Chelsea, my teammates, and the fans. I experienced so many strong emotions there. We won the Conference League and the Club World Cup. Now I’m 100% focused on my new project and I can’t wait to experience the incredible atmosphere at the Allianz Arena.”
The 24-year-old was at the center of a transfer whirlwind in the final days and hours of the transfer window, having flown to Munich for his medical only for the entire move to be thrown into doubt after an injury to Chelsea forward Liam Delap. For a while, it seemed the loan was ‘100%’ dead.
But the Senegalese international always kept belief.
“Honestly, my agents and I were very confident,” Jackson added. “I never doubted that I would sign with Bayern, so I took the situation ‘philosophically’. I’m in good health, as are my loved ones, and I’m lucky enough to be a professional footballer. Nothing else matters. That’s how I thought of it.”
Jackson persevered, and now he will get to play out his dream in Bavaria after all.
