The United States Men’s National Team are back. They take the field this afternoon to face Belgium in their first friendly of the March international window, and it’s one of the final chances to see individual players perform before the World Cup roster is named.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino said during yesterday’s press conference that defenders Miles Robinson and Chris Richards would not be included on the team sheet for the match today. Both are battling some nagging injuries. Both players will
also be sidelined on Tuesday against Portugal. That means other defenders will have to step up against a Belgium team that may be missing a couple of stars but are still one of the most dangerous teams in the world.
Taking advantage of a new rule, both Belgium and the USMNT will be able to use as many as 11 subs each during the match. This should give Pochettino plenty of time to play almost everyone on the team sheet during the match, and individual players should be ready to get their chance to impress on the field. It’s a big time friendly with potential major implications on who can make a great final case to make the World Cup roster.
