Elijah Smith pushed his unbeaten streak to eight earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 14, 2026) at UFC Vegas 114 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, scoring a slick rear-naked choke finish over talented prospect SuYoung You.
Smith, who entered Saturday night with a 2-0 UFC record, was coming off one of the best knockout performances of 2025 (watch it again HERE). Many expected the talented bantamweight to go back to the well and look for another knockout performance at UFC Vegas
114. Even if Smith wanted to go for the kill You’s grappling attacks and chest-to-chest pressure made it tough.
Luckily for Smith, his submission game is just as good as his knockout game. Instead of panicking, the 23-year-old prospect turned the tides and grabbed a hold of a slick rear-naked choke after a flash knockdown. You, who had never been submitted in his pro career before, fought Smith’s grip for a few moments before giving in and tapping out.
It was a great performance from Smith as he showcased an incredibly well-rounded arsenal at such a young age. The finish wasn’t as shocking as his KO slam, but it may actually be more impressive on paper.
