Michael Olise ran the show for Bayern Munich against Atalanta in the Champions League, orchestrating a 6-1 in in Bergamo that more or less puts the Bavarians in the quarterfinals. Vincent Kompany singled out Olise after the match and insinuated that there’s more to get out of him.
“He came here with a mentality that gives him the chance to be one of the best players in the world; he’s very detailed in what he does,”, Kompany said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “I don’t really want to compare
players because they’re different – but I played with Kevin De Bruyne and was lucky to watch him come through as a young player then become a superstar. He had that obsession for detail. Michael has that as well. It’s not enough. We have to push him to do more, but he’s on a very good trajectory.”
Thierry Henry said something similar about Olise, having coached him at France’s Olympic football team in 2024. It was along the lines of, “the best is yet to come”. If this is Olise at his best, then I wonder what more Bayern could extract from the 24-year-old.
