On today’s episode, Ryan Eichten and Leo Sun talk about the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 124-94 win over the Dallas Mavericks, the return of Anthony Edwards, and much more:
— The Timberwolves announced that Jaden McDaniels is “week to week” with left knee patella tendinopathy and a bone bruise. What should the lineup look like when he returns?
— After missing the previous six games, Edwards returned to the lineup with 17 points on 7-13 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers, four assists, and two rebounds.
While the stats may not jump off the screen, Ant found his spots within the flow of the offense and looked no worse for wear on the defensive end.
— The Wolves limited Edwards’ minutes to just 23 in his first game back. He had four different stints on the floor, each at about six minutes. Should the Wolves continue to limit Ant’s minutes the rest of the regular season?
— The Wolves have had a 103.9 defensive rating in the minutes with Kyle Anderson on the floor and Rudy Gobert on the bench. The non-Gobert minutes have been a disaster defensively for the Wolves all season, which makes Slo-Mo the perfect addition to the Wolves’ bench.
— Ayo Dosunmu put up his first triple-double since he joined the Timberwolves, putting up 18 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists, and three steals. The trade for Dosunmu has been grand slam for the Wolves and has possibly fixed the original mistake of trade a first round pick and a pick swap for Rob Dillingham.
— The Wolves went 4-2 in the six games Edwards missed due to injury. Chris Finch did well to keep the team from bottoming out without its superstar.
— The Western Conference standings are starting to settle with less than two weeks to go in the season. The Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets have pulled away from the Timberwolves, possibly for good. The popular question the rest of the season will be whether the Lakers or the Nuggets are the preferable first round matchup.
