During a visit to Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast in May, Rey Mysterio revealed that his daughter Aalyah had caught the wrestling bug.
WWE fans probably remember Aalyah as the child CM Punk creepily sang “Happy Birthday” to 16 years ago, or the teenager who fell for Buddy Murphy (now Matthews) when her big brother Dominik was establishing himself on WWE screens. But her dad told Taker she got in the ring a couple of times after graduating college and caught the bug. At the time, Rey said his daughter
was “getting ready to go up there and establish herself at the PC [WWE Performance Center].”
It seems the time for Aalyah to establish herself is here. PWInsider reported as much last night (July 28):
Rey Mysterio’s daughter Aalyah is expected to start at the WWE Performance Center shortly.
The internet tracked down supporting evidence that Rey’s youngest child is headed to Orlando, Florida, where the PC is located. Photos have been circulating around social media, presumably from Aalyah or her friends’ (possibly private) accounts.
In them, Aalyah’s holding a cake with “Florida’s about to get 619’d” written on it. Among other things, they’re captioned with, “You’re WWE’s problem now… c u on tv”, and “Florida better get ready for the next Mysterio”.
As many second-generation performers could tell her, following in a Superstar parent’s footsteps brings a lot of scrutiny. But several have made it, including her Dirty, tendie-loving big brother… so Aalyah Mysterio will have resources and support however her WWE journey goes.
We’ll be following that journey. Will you? Are you excited for Aalyah, or tired of “nepo babies” in all areas of your life? Sound off below!
