Despite a series loss against the Giants, the Brewers still have a chance to salvage their homestand with the start of a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Brandon Woodruff’s coming off his bumpiest start of the season, but he is the owner of a 2.47 ERA. His last outing was a 4 1/3 inning showing of three earned runs on five hits, three walks, and six strikeouts. While that’s not a terrific outing, one positive was that Woodruff reached a season-high 94 pitch count.
For Arizona, Eduardo
Rodriguez takes the mound. It will be his 23rd start of the season, entering the game with a 5.40 ERA. He’s done little to impress this month while allowing 12 earned runs over 24 innings.
Milwaukee’s lineup starts with second baseman Brice Turang in the leadoff spot. The rest of the infield fills out with Caleb Durbin, Andruw Monasterio, and Andrew Vaughn.
In the outfield, Isaac Collins starts in left field, accompanied by Blake Perkins in center and Sal Frelick in right. Christian Yelich will occupy the designated hitter role.
William Contreras makes the start at catcher. After his terrific stretch throughout the team’s win streak, his numbers have dipped over the past week with a .154 batting average. Still, he’s walked more times (5) than he’s struck out (3) in that time.
The game will also be broadcast on the Brewers Radio Network in addition to FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and Telemundo Wisconsin. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. CT.
