Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Darien Porter was spotted at Thursday’s practice ahead of the Week 9 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, according to ESPN’s Ryan McFadden.
Previously, Porter exited last Sunday’s game against the New York Jets after suffering a groin injury on the first play from scrimmage, and he missed Wednesday’s practice with the same injury. McFadden didn’t specify whether the second-year corner
was a limited or full participant, as that information won’t be clarified until the Raiders release the full injury report later on Thursday. Silver and Black Pride will update this story with his practice status when the report becomes available.
Porter has played in seven out of eight games this season, missing Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers with a foot injury, and has started four contests. He’s been rotating with rookie Hezekiah Masses. However, the team’s other rookie corner, Jermod McCoy, originally replaced Porter when Porter went down in New York. Masses and McCoy ended up splitting reps, though, with the former recording a late pass breakup to help seal Las Vegas’ win. Presumably, he’d be the starter if Porter can’t go or isn’t healthy enough to start.
Additionally, The Athletic’s Sam Warren reported that defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV wasn’t seen during Thursday’s practice. Booker was limited the day before with a foot injury. He’s primarily played a backup/rotational role this season. If Booker is sidelined for the game, his absence against the 49ers shouldn’t change much for the Raiders’ defense.
Meanwhile, there’s also some key injury news coming out of San Francisco. General manager John Lynch told Bay Area radio station KNBR that wide receivers Mike Evans (Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring) will not be available this week (h/t NBC Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco). But the 49ers are expecting to have wideouts Demarcus Robinson and KhaDarel Hodge back this week.
