Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Cubs fans and fans across the country.
The Cubs have 31 games remaining in the 2026 regular season.
They enter Monday’s action six games behind the Brewers in the NL Central. So while catching the Brewers is still mathematically possible, it’s seeming more and more of a longshot with each passing day.
Thus we turn our attention to a potential Wild Card Series matchup. The Cubs currently
are the top Wild Card team and if they can hold that spot, they’d host a Wild Card series, as they did last year against the Padres.
The three teams closest to the Cubs in the wild card race are the Phillies (two games back), Diamondbacks (four games back) and Padres (six games back).
So today’s question is: Which of these teams would you most want the Cubs to face in a Wild Card Series? Of course, having home field for such a series is important and the Cubs currently hold the tiebreaker over Philadelphia and San Diego, and one win vs. the D-backs this week would clinch that tiebreaker as well.
Vote in the survey and I’ll post the final results here later this week.
