The Buffalo Bills got an extra day of rest as they headed into Week 9 coming off a win over the Baltimore Ravens. With Week 9’s game against the Minnesota Vikings scheduled for Monday night, the Bills didn’t have an official on-the-books practice until today.
And it may have helped things on the injury front.
Did not practice:
- OL Alec Anderson
- T Dion Dawkins
- DL Greg Gaines
- WR Joshua Palmer
- RB Ty Johnson*
Yes, there are two new names here, but I would expect both Anderson and Dawkins to be working by the end of the week. Maybe even tomorrow. There
are a couple of key names not on this list to start the week, and that’s much, much better than the past couple of weeks.
*Johnson just has an illness. Expect him back tomorrow.
Limited Practice
- T Spencer Brown
- WR Keon Coleman
- DB Jordan Hancock (IR)
- TE Dalton Kincaid
- WR DJ Moore
Moore and Brown practicing today are good signs. This is where that extra day of rest may have been key. Brown didn’t practice at all last week, and as a result didn’t suit up on Sunday. Moore was limited all week, and we saw him take some tough hits that landed him on the shoulder he’s been nursing along. It’s encouraging to see playing Sunday didn’t sideline him today.
Full Practice
- CB Dee Alford
- LB Joe Andreesen
- OLB Bradley Chubb
- OLB TJ Parker
- G Ar’maj Reed-Adams
- DL T.J. Sanders
- WR Tyrell Shavers (PUP)
Alford’s back. That’s the key news in this section. The Bills’ nickel corner has been out for two weeks (plus the bye) and it’s definitely been interesting watching Buffalo defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard move people in and out of that spot like he’s trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube.
The other encouraging news is that Shavers has gone from limited to full on the practice front. As a reminder, the Bills have until November 19 to reinstate him to the active roster.

For the Vikings, the day opened with head coach Kevin O’Connell informing us that it would be Carson Wentz under center Monday night. Kyler Murray’s hamstring is going to keep him on the sidelines.
Murray’s injury occurred late in the Vikings 19-15 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Despite the injury being ruled a Grade 1 Sprain and the Minnesota quarterback’s prognosis listed as Day-to-Day, O’Connell ruled him out three days early.
Here’s how the rest of their injury report shaped up:
