After being diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year, Michigan Wolverines incoming freshman center Marcus Moller is “doing well all things considered,” head coach Dusty May told the media on Wednesday.
“He has one more procedure before he’s out of the weeds, but he’s doing well,” May said. “He went back to his club in Spain to clean out his apartment and was able to do some workouts, so he’s doing well all things considered.”
Just two months after he officially signed his letter of intent with Michigan, Moller’s cancer diagnosis was announced in January. He is a 7-foot-3, 230-pound center from Denmark who played professionally in Spain.
Michigan has brought in a pair of elite international 7-footers since May took over, including Vlad Goldin in 2024 and Aday Mara in 2025. Now, Moller is next in line as his 7-foot-3 frame makes him an exciting prospect.
Whenever he is able to return to the court, Moller is set to bring versatility and size to the Wolverines. In five games at the U18 EuroBasket Championships in 2024, Moller averaged 13.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
Following his diagnosis, Moller returned to Denmark for medical treatment and to be with his family. Moller is expected to arrive on campus this summer.
It’s unclear if Moller will be able to play during the 2026-27 season, but his mental and physical health is obviously more important than anything else. His recovery seems to be going well, so we should see him in a Michigan uniform at some point.
Moller is a part of one of the nation’s top-rated recruiting classes. Other recruits that signed with Michigan in this recruiting cycle include five-star guard Brandon McCoy, four-star forward Quinn Costello, four-star forward Lincoln Cosby, four-star guard Joseph Hartman and three-star forward Malachi Brown.
