The Golden State Warriors will not have Jimmy Butler for tonight’s preseason game against the Portland Trail Blazers as an ankle injury continues to bother him. However, according to a report by Brett
Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Dubs do not yet seem concerned that Butler will be unavailable for the team’s preseason game. Given Butler’s long injury history and age it’s reasonable to be concerned, but Golden State is not raising the alarm bells.
“I am told the Warriors are confident that Jimmy Butler will be available for next Tuesday’s season opener vs. LAL after he rolled his ankle in practice on Friday,” Siegel reported via Twitter. “The injury was described as nothing more than a ‘tweak.’ He will not play in tonight’s preseason game vs. POR.”
The Dubs are hoping to get off to a strong start this season, and avoid having to make a strenuous second half push like they did last season. Still, given the age of the roster, it remains to be seen whether the Warriors will be able to keep their personnel intact enough to do so. The Lakers are in a similar roster situation, but have taken a much less aggressive approach, instead aiming for a slow ramp up over the course of the season for their older roster.
We’ll see how those strategies play out.
