It’s no secret that a plethora clubs across Europe would be chomping at the bit to take a chance on signing Harry Kane from Bayern Munich if the opportunity presented itself. The England skipper has flourished in Germany and is still currently on pace to challenge Robert Lewandowski’s single season goals record of 41 goals in the Bundesliga. He’s tallied 28 goals in the league thus far and has scored 43 across all competitions — also currently on pace to win the European Golden Boot.
As things currently
stand, Kane’s contract at Bayern runs through June 2027, but the German Rekordmeister are actively working on securing a new deal for the striker and hope to have it done before the end of this season. He’s expressed his happiness in Munich and has said he can see a future at Bayern beyond this season, but that certainly not stop from clubs abroad trying to turn his head.
FC Barcelona presidential candidate Xavier Vilajoana recently voiced his claim that he feels Kane would be the perfect fit at striker for the Catalan giants. He was explaining how a striker like Kane is the one thing Barcelona is currently missing, knowing that Lewandowski is 37 years of age and his days at Barcelona are numbered.
“What we’re missing is a striker (..) There is one. In fact, we’ve already made some contact, and I think he’s a player who would be a great fit, pending his contractual situation: it’s Harry Kane. Kane is a centre forward who would fit in perfectly with our style of play (..) I also know that he likes Barcelona. In fact, there are very few players who don’t like Barcelona. So it’s a matter of talking about it, obviously,” Vilajoana had ranted (via @iMiaSanMia).
Kane was recently asked about the comments Vilajoanna made and was quick to brush them aside, reassuring his commitment right now is to Bayern and that he’s heard no form of contact at all from Barcelona. “I haven’t heard anything about that. My father and brother are taking care of these things, but they haven’t told me anything. As I’ve already said, I’m very happy here at Bayern. My focus is on this season and here at Bayern. I’ll take that as a compliment,” he said (via @iMiaSanMia).
