Sunday will be the first chance for the Cincinnati Bengals to face former pass rusher Trey Hendrickson.
One of Hendrickson’s Baltimore Ravens teammates is drinking the Kool-Aid on this revenge game with a pretty big prediction:
“Trey is a great leader, and he’s a guy who flies around,” linebacker Trenton Simpson said Wednesday. “And man, I am excited to see him against his former team. The things he’s doing in practice, the way he rushed the passer, and just how he’d get off the ball. And I believe
that this game for him is about to be like one of those multiple-sack games. So I’m calling it. I’m excited to see the celebration he does, so I’m excited.”
Hendrickson has missed two games this season with a broken finger that he got surgery on. If he were to have multiple sacks, it would be the first such performance with Baltimore, as he only has two sacks so far.
He looked good last week against the Cleveland Browns, getting plenty of pressure on a rookie left tackle and recording a sack.
It will be interesting to see how the Bengals scheme up pass protection with Hendrickson. One thing we know is the team will likely be excited to run directly at him.
For years, one of the biggest knocks was that you could run at Hendrickson and gain yards pretty easily. It became more obvious as the defense deteriorated around him
There is no doubt Hendrickson will be wearing the biggest chip on his shoulder. He was loud and clear about his displeasure with the front office, and he’d tell anyone who would listen about his offseason contract drama. That has clearly left a bad taste in most fans’ mouths.
Now, the Bengals will need to keep Hendrickson from having a big day if they are to come out of Baltimore with a W.
