All Elite Wrestling returns to pay-per-view tonight (June 28) with Forbidden Door 2026. The show comes our way from SAP Center in San Jose, California.
The event begins at 7 pm ET with the Buy In pre-show on YouTube. That leads right into the PPV main card at 8 pm ET. Fans in the USA can purchase it from PPV.com, HBO Max, Amazon, DAZN, and YouTube, or their cable or satellite provider. The show is also available on MyAEW for fans in Canada, the UK, and international markets.
‘The most dangerous team that has ever existed’ gets to choke on AEW PPV
Mark Briscoe has been chasing
down AEW World Champion MJF for a title match, but MJF wants nothing to do with him. MJF says it’s because Briscoe is a mid-card guy who is beneath him. It probably has more to do with the fact that MJF lost against Briscoe the last time they faced each other on AEW pay-per-view.
Thanks to President Tony Khan, Briscoe now has a chance to earn that world title match. All he has to do is be on the winning team of the Forbidden Door main event, which is a 6 vs. 6 steel cage match.
The other five members of Team Briscoe include former AEW world champion Darby Allin, AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita, and AEW World Trios Champions Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy, and Roderick Strong.
MJF doesn’t have any friends, so he instead paid the Don Callis Family a shitload of money to help put together what they call “the most dangerous team that has ever existed.” In addition to the AEW world champ, Team DCMJF includes Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Andrade El Idolo, TNT Champion Kevin Knight, and Jake Doyle.
Team DCMJF got the jump on Team Briscoe by beating them in a standard 12-man tag team match on Dynamite on the same night that the teams were announced. However, that victory doesn’t necessarily mean the heels are the favorites to win this cage match at Forbidden Door.
The heels have one glaring flaw that could be their downfall, and it’s that Andrade is being pushed to the brink of abandoning the team. MJF keeps insulting him as a pretender to the world title, and Callis keeps yanking potential world title matches away from Andrade. The breaking point is coming soon for El Idolo, and it makes sense for that to happen tonight.
During the build up to this fight, the promos have established that Briscoe’s finishing move, the Jay Driller, is MJF’s kryptonite, in the sense that he has never kicked out of it. MJF dismissed that fact by saying it’s only because Mark has never managed to hit him with it when the world title is on the line. MJF’s gold is not on the line tonight, so by his own logic, Team DCMJF will likely lose if Briscoe hits him with the Jay Driller again.
Will MJF rid himself of Mark Briscoe as a world title threat with help from the Callis Family mercenaries, or will ‘the most dangerous team that has ever existed’ choke on the big stage inside a steel cage? Tune into Forbidden Door to find out.
The rest of the card
These remaining 10 matches and segments are also currently advertised for tonight at Forbidden Door:
Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland in the final match of the men’s Owen Hart Tournament
Ospreay and Swerve were on the same page one year ago when they worked together to take away the Young Bucks’ EVP powers. They have moved in different directions since then, although both men are hell-bent on winning the AEW world championship. Swerve thinks the fact that Ospreay is now running with the Death Riders shows he has changed for the worse, while Will thinks Swerve’s selfish pursuit of power in AEW has changed him for the worse. They’ll get to punch each other in the face over it tonight in the final match of the Owen Hart Tournament, with the winner earning a world title match in late August at AEW’s biggest show of the year, All In London. That event happens to take place in Ospreay’s home country, of course, making him the overwhelming favorite to win tonight.
Maya World vs. Mercedes Mone in the final match of the women’s Owen Hart Tournament
World and Mone weren’t in the original bracket for this tournament, yet here they are in the final match fighting for the chance to challenge for the AEW women’s world championship at All In London. World is the underdog babyface who is fighting in memory of her brother, who was tragically killed when he was hit by a car on the highway. Mone is the cocky heel CEO of AEW who is one one of the biggest stars and highest paid wrestlers in the company. Can Maya World complete her miracle tournament run after never winning a match on AEW programming prior to June?
Thekla (c) vs. Starlight Kid for the AEW women’s world championship
Thekla has made it her mission to disparage and deface Stardom at every chance she gets, so Starlight Kid is coming over from Japan to defend the honor of the promotion and take her belt. Will Stardom President Taro Okada be on hand so that Thekla can kick his ass too?
Jon Moxley (c) vs. Bandido for the AEW Continental championship
Bandido and Brody King returned to tag team action a couple weeks ago with a big win over Jon Moxley and that loser Daniel Garcia. In the aftermath of that win, Bandido was feeling so good that he decided to challenge Moxley for the Continental championship. Jon is no coward, at least not anymore, so he gladly accepted the fight for Forbidden Door.
Adam Copeland & Christian Cage (c) vs. The Dogs for the AEW world tag team championship
Cope and Cage’s title reign got off to a terrible start when their 5 second pose celebration was interrupted and ruined by The Dogs, who have gone on a spree of hardcore violence to send the message that these belts are theirs for the taking. Maybe Cope will have to introduce them to his good friend “Spike” tonight to pay them back for the brutal attacks.
Shota Umino (c) vs. PAC for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship
Umino just won this belt a couple weeks ago from Andrade in Japan, and now he is in the USA to defend it against The Bastard. PAC says Shota will never have what it takes to be a Death Rider. Will he change his tune if the champ beats him?
Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
ZSJ is a staple at these Forbidden Door events, this time drawing Kenny Omega as his opponent. Kenny is on the path to redemption after he blew it in his last AEW world title match against MJF. And what do you know, AEW happens to have a new PPV named Redemption next month in Omega’s home country of Canada. That probably doesn’t bode well for Sabre’s odds of winning this match.
Young Bucks vs. Mistico & Mascara Dorada vs. Shingo Takagi & Titan
Sky Team just won the ROH world tag team championship in Arena Mexico, but it doesn’t look like those belts are on the line here at Forbidden Door. I don’t believe the Bucks have ever wrestled against Mistico, which adds some intrigue to the match. There are no stakes, but a match with six great workers like this certainly has a chance to steal the show.
Maika vs. Skye Blue in a Survival of the Fittest qualifying match [pre-show]
There is going to be a 6-woman Survival of the Fittest match on this week’s (July 1) Dynamite to crown a new TBS champion. Harley Cameron, Queen Aminata, Kris Statlander, Persephone, and Hikaru Shida have already qualified for the title match, with one spot remaining. That spot will go to the winner of this pre-show match between Skye Blue and Stardom’s Maika.
Divine Dominion (c) vs. Thunder Rosa & Olympia for the AEW women’s world tag team championship [pre-show]
Thunder Rosa has done a lot more work in CMLL than AEW recently. She’s bringing Olympia back with her to AEW see if they have what it takes to beat the dominant tag champions, Megan Bayne and Lena Kross. Rosa thinks Divine Dominion are all bark and no bite, so this is her chance to prove that’s true on the Forbidden Door pre-show.
What will you be looking for at Forbidden Door?
