The Phoenix Suns played in three incredibly different games this week. Going 1-2, Phoenix pulled off a huge upset, got upset, and walloped in the Quarterfinals of the NBA Cup.
Here are the main questions
for Week 8 that we want your thoughts on:
How did you think Devin Booker looked in his first game back?
Booker returned to action last night after missing the team’s previous three games due to a groin injury. He scored 27 points on 7/17 from the field, 0/5 from three, and 13/16 from the line. He also had six rebounds and seven assists. He did most of his damage late when the Suns were mounting a comeback from being down 20, scoring eight in the fourth quarter.
What did you make of his performance in his first game back, and what does he need to do to recapture the efficiency he played with to start the season?
What to make of the OKC loss?
Phoenix suffered one of their worst losses in franchise history and their worst loss of the season in the Quarterfinals of the NBA Cup on Wednesday, getting trounced 138-89 to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Suns shot 39% from the field, and allowed the Thunder to shoot nearly 60% from the field and 55% from three.
Phoenix was without Devin Booker in the contest, and the offense looked anemic in his absence, but that wasn’t the case for the entirety of his absence. Did the Thunder’s blowout say more about them? A team that’s on pace to have one of the greatest, if not the greatest, records in NBA regular-season history, or more about the state of the Suns?
Mark Williams’ Strong Season
Williams had two of his best games of the season this week. Against the Timberwolves, he went for 22 points, seven rebounds, and made his first career three. Yesterday against the Lakers, he had 20 on 9/10 shooting from the field. He’s on pace to set a career high for games played in a season and is one of the league leaders in field goal percentage. In an effort to keep him healthy, he’s been kept out of all back-to-backs this year and is averaging the least amount of minutes per game since his rookie year.
Why has the Duke alum had so much success with Phoenix so far, and even with Phoenix drafting big Khaman Maluach this past draft, is Williams part of the team’s long-term future?
