The Minnesota Golden Gophers baseball team closes out the 2025 regular season with six consecutive home games at Siebert Field beginning Friday night when the host the Michigan Wolverines for the first game of a three game series. Minnesota is clinging to a Big Ten Tournament spot currently in a three-way tie for 9th place in the conference standings. The top 12 teams make the Big Ten Tournament in two weeks, and Minnesota, Illinois and Washington all share a game and a half lead over Michigan State
for the final spot in the field. If the Gophers can earn a spot it will be their first trip to Omaha for the conference tournament since 2019.
The Gophers enter the series against the Wolverines with a 29-18 overall record and a 10-14 record in conference play. Michigan is tied for 5th in the Big Ten with Purdue with an overall record of 30-17 and a 15-9 record in conference action. Michigan has won six consecutive Big Ten series this season and is led on offense by Colby Turner hitting .392 with 13 home runs over 189 at bats.
Minnesota’s biggest advantage this season has been on the base paths. Minnesota ranks second throughout the Big Ten in walks drawn this season, tallying 261 bases on balls this spring through 47 games. Once they get on base, they don’t hesitate to run. The Gophers lead the Big Ten in total stolen bases this year with 99 through 47 games.
All three games of this weekend’s series will stream on B1G+. Friday’s game is a 6 PM first pitch, Saturday’s game will start at 3PM, and Sunday’s finale will kick off at 1 PM.
