Few clubs in world football can match the global reach and passionate support of Bayern Munich, and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen believes the numbers speak for themselves.
“The number of ticket requests we are receiving right now is absolutely incredible. We have had nearly 350,000 applications for the home match against Dortmund. That is something I have never seen before. Even the least in-demand match has attracted 135,000 ticket requests. We could fill every stadium in the country with our own fans,
even for away games. That is not arrogance, it is simply a fact,” Dreesen said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The figures are staggering. Bayern Munich’s home matches at the Allianz Arena are among the most sought-after tickets in European football, but demand has now reached another level. Receiving nearly 350,000 ticket requests for a single Bundesliga match illustrates just how immense the club’s fanbase has become.
What makes Dreesen’s comments particularly interesting is that he is not only talking about marquee fixtures. According to the CEO, even Bayern’s lowest-demand home match still generated well over 100,000 ticket applications. That level of consistent interest is something very few clubs anywhere in the world can claim.
The support extends far beyond Munich as well. Whether Bayern is playing in Berlin, Hamburg, Dortmund, or abroad, large sections of every stadium are often filled with supporters wearing red. It is one of the reasons the club continues to enjoy one of the strongest commercial and financial positions in world football while maintaining its reputation as Germany’s biggest club.
Winning trophies undoubtedly fuels that popularity, but sustained success over decades, a recognizable football identity, and generations of loyal supporters have helped turn Bayern Munich into a global institution. Dreesen’s remarks may sound bold, but the demand for tickets suggests they are rooted in reality.
