Maryland catcher Devin Russell was named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Russell notched two walk-off home runs over the weekend to help propel the Terps to a series win over Indiana at home. On Saturday, Russell was nearly unstoppable from the plate, going 3-of-4 with three RBIs. His home run in the bottom of the seventh inning enacted the run rule and ended the contest.
Russell’s home run Sunday was a walk-off grand slam — he finished the weekend hitting .500 to propel
the Terps to their first conference series win of the season.
