Golden State Warriors Assistant Coach Terry Stotts will be leaving Head Coach Steve Kerr’s staff after two years of service, according to Anthony Slater of ESPN. Warriors assistant Jerry Stackhouse will also be leaving the team.
Slater reports that Stotts had privately told Kerr of his intentions to leave the Warriors before the end of the regular season. The position was Stotts’ first extended coaching gig since he was fired by the Portland Trail Blazers following a first-round loss to the Denver
Nuggets during the 2020-2021 NBA season. Slater states that Stotts remains open to other NBA head coaching opportunities.
On May 9th, amidst discussions that he could leave the Warriors, Kerr signed a two-year contract to return as head coach.
Golden State had a difficult year. Star point guard Steph Curry suffered bone bruising in his right knee, causing him to miss significant time. The Warriors finished 37-45 and were ultimately eliminated in the second round of the Play-In Tournament, falling to the Phoenix Suns.
