As we’ve noted before, there are plenty of insanely talented players who just never quite master the game while on the other, there are some who are not nearly as talented who dominate, for instance Joker,
aka Nikola Jokic. He’s slow, he looks awkward…but he slices you to ribbons.
The ideal is to have both, and it’s possible that recent Duke star Khaman Maluach just may, and fellow Brotherhood member and new Phoenix Suns teammate Grayson Allen is starting to see it.
Here’s what he said about Maluach’s first official day of practice. Stop us if you’ve heard this before: “He talks nonstop on the court. Like he’s commanding the defense, calling out coverages, constantly talking.
“For a rookie, let alone a 19-year-old guy, to come into a gym and do that first day of training camp is impressive. He’s already ready in that aspect.”
And by the way, check out the picture in this article. Remember how Maluach looked when he got to Duke, like his arms were made out of pipe cleaners? Yeah…he’s not like that anymore, and his face has filled out, too. This guy has spent some serious time in the weight room and it’s paying off.
