Although we don’t know all the details and certainly not the outcome of the charges against A.J. Jackson, the Rams have to prepare for the possibility of a lengthy suspension. Here are three starting-caliber free agents that could fit the bill.
Cam Robinson
Drafted 34th overall in the 2017 draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Robinson is 30 years old, stands 6’6” tall, and weighs 335 pounds. Spotrac estimates his next contract to be in the $13 million range.
After spending the majority of his career with the Jacksonville
Jaguars, he had brief stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans before playing 3 games with the Texans in 2025 and finishing the season with the Cleveland Browns. He has, in fact, been on four different teams over the past two years, starting 30 of 33 possible games. Quite remarkable, really, a starting left tackle for four different teams in a two-year span?
The simple explanation for no team wanting to keep him is pretty obvious. During his tenure with the Browns and Texans last season, he allowed 40 total pressures (including 8 sacks) and was penalized 14 times over 755 offensive snaps. It seems he’s lost whatever skills he had.
Hard pass for me.
Taylor Decker
Drafted 16th overall in the 2016 draft by the Detroit Lions, Decker is 32 years old, stands 6’7” tall, and weighs 324 pounds. Spotrac estimates his next contract to be in the $21 million range.
Decker has played his entire career for the Lions. Long regarded as one of the better tackles in the league, he was voted to the Pro Bowl two seasons ago. He has also caught two touchdowns!
Unfortunately, after his Pro Bowl season, his health declined. A lingering shoulder issue had him listed on the injury report for every game in 2025, and he finished the season ranked 41st of 89 tackles by PFF.
Given the decline in both his health and his on-field production, Decker contemplated retirement but changed his mind and decided to return for the third and final year of the three-year extension he’d signed before the ‘24 season, which would have paid him $20 million. The Lions, however, balked at paying him like a top ten tackle and wanted to adjust the contract to an amount more reflective of his ‘25 performance. Decker requested and received his release from the team.
Decker would certainly be worth considering, but at what price?
Jonah Williams
Drafted 11th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019, Williams is 28 years old, stands 6’5” tall, and weighs 312 pounds. Spotrac estimates his next contract to be in the $10.3 million range.
Williams entered the league as a highly touted prospect out of Alabama. He never reached his potential with the Bengals and was released after his fourth year. The Arizona Cardinals signed him to a two-year, $30 million contract, but unfortunately, both years ended with him on the injured reserve list.
Knee surgery in 2024 and shoulder surgery in 2025 are obvious red flags; however, should he clear the medical exams the Rams would demand, he could easily be the depth piece Rams fans have been clamoring for.
Over his last 3 seasons, he’s played right tackle, but previously, he was the starting left tackle for the Bengals. Throughout his college career at Alabama, he played both left and right.
He is not Pro Bowl caliber by any means, but he would be a serviceable protector, and the Rams have the cap space to pay him $10 million.
Would any of these three be your choice to fill in for Alaric Jackson? Personally, I wouldn’t take a second glance at Robinson, and I think Decker would be too expensive for a player you hope is going to return to form. In my mind, Williams represents the best value of the bunch, and who knows, maybe Ryan Wendell could coax that Alabama form out of him.
