The biggest move president of football operations/general manager Brandon Beane made this offseason to improve the Buffalo Bills’ offense was trading for veteran wide receiver DJ Moore. It’s a move that gives former NFL MVP Josh Allen another talented weapon while reuniting Moore with head coach Joe Brady, who was Moore’s offensive coordinator in 2020 and 2021 with the Carolina Panthers.
Moore has a chance at reclaiming his position as a clear No. 1 wideout with the Bills, and today’s edition of Buffalo
Rumblinks leads off by discussing Moore’s potential output in his first year catching passes from Allen.

D.J. Moore banking on bounce-back season
DJ Moore comes to Buffalo having surpassed 1,150 receiving yards in a season in four of his eight years in the league, including a personal-best 1,364 yards on 96 catches in 2023, his first year with the Chicago Bears. But last year, Moore’s productivity dipped, as he finished with only 682 yards on 50 catches, both career-low figures.
One reason for Moore’s low output last year: Caleb Williams and the Bears only threw the ball Moore’s way 85 times, compared to an average of 135 targets per year from 2019-2024.
In acquiring Moore, Beane is expressing his confidence that last year’s productivity was an outliner, and the hope is for Moore to become Buffalo’s first 1,000-yard receiver since Stefon Diggs during the 2023 season. The sports book, DraftKings, set the over/under total for Moore’s receiving yards at 824.5 yards, a figure Moore easily eclipsed every season from 2019-2024.
Since coming into the league as the 24th overall pick out of Maryland by the Panthers in the 2018 NFL Draft, Moore has caught 608 passes for 8,213 yards (an average of 13.5 yards per reception) with 41 touchdowns.
With Brady as his OC in Carolina, Moore averaged 1,175 receiving yards on 140 targets per season in 2020 and 2021. Allen is clearly a marked improvement at quarterback for Moore, who caught passes from Teddy Bridgewater in 2020 and from Sam Darnold and Cam Newton in 2021, and it doesn’t seem too far-fetched for Moore to add another 1,000-yard season to his resume.
