Despite the wildly high price tag, no one can deny Harry Kane was among the best purchases Bayern Munich have made in the last five years. He has been absolutely indispensable, replacing the gap left by
the departure of now-FC Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski. Kane transcends the idea of purely being a striker and fully involves himself in every second of the game, covering every inch of the pitch. You will find him in linkup, in defense, anywhere for that fact where he feels his presence is needed.
His contract situation at Bayern is interesting. Though the contract is set to expire only 2027, there exists a clause that allows an interested club to involve sooner than that. He may leave as early as January 2026 for a fee of €65 million provided he inform the club much ahead of the winter transfer window.
Among the clubs interested in exploring this clause is his former team Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites under Thomas Frank have been toying with with the idea of taking him back to London, per journalist Fabrizio Romano. The report states that Spurs have “a priority option on Kane should he decide to leave”:
Harry Kane is currently fully focused on Bayern and fully convinced that the club can compete for the Champions League this season in a very serious way. Tottenham have a priority option on Kane should he decide to leave Bayern, with manager Thomas Frank a huge fan of the striker. Spurs have opened the door for Kane to return, but it remains to be seen what the player will decide at the end of the season
From the London team’s side it is clear why they would want him back. They are in dire need of leadership, someone with clinicality and finishing skills and his presence would help anchor Spurs’ tactics. Though they have been fluid and creative, they still grossly underperform from an attacking standpoint due to the absence of someone who can make the right runs, involve in playmaking and orchestrate attacks.
Kane however continues to focus on Bayern and their Champions League pursuits this season. He has in several occasions made it clear his priorities lie in progressing on the European stage with Bayern and so far, has made no comment on what his future plans look like.
