Barcelona have been hit with more injury pain with news that Ferran Torres has been ruled out by Spain and will return to his club side.
Torres won his 50th cap in Spain’s 2-0 win over Georgia but won’t
play against Bulgaria after withdrawing from the squad.
Here’s the official statement from the RFEF:
“Ferran Torres has been dropped from the squad for the fourth World Cup 2026 qualifier against Bulgaria in Valladolid.
“The FC Barcelona forward, after completing the match against Georgia in Elche, reported muscle discomfort that was evaluated by the RFEF’s medical services, including additional tests, diagnosing muscle overload with no associated anatomical injury.
“Given the upcoming match against Bulgaria, in keeping with the policy of taking no risks and prioritizing the player’s health, he has been withdrawn from the squad. FC Barcelona’s medical team has been informed of all the details.”
Torres is yet another Barcelona player to pick up a problem on international duty with Spain and will follow Dani Olmo in making his return to the club from Barcelona.
