Obviously he did not earn a victory last night, but it felt like Aaron Nola had some good moments on the mound. He allowed the Diamondbacks to tie the game prior to his departure, but it looked like he had some good movement on his fastball, some good, sharp break to his curveball and kept the ball out of the middle of the plate. It wasn’t the vintage Nola we know, but it wasn’t the “holy cow did he blow that one!” Nola we’ve seen most of the year this year.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- Nick Castellanos had a good night on Friday, but it still looks like his playoff role will ultimately be a limited one ($).
- Man, this “Phillies Karen” moment just will not go away. This time, though, it’s a story about the guy who gave that nut the ball.
MLB news:
- The league is trying to crack down on people stealing tickets from the MLB Ballpark app and reselling them for profit ($).
- Where is Clayton Kershaw going to rank among all-time great pitchers in MLB history? Personally, I have him top fifteen-ish.
- Speaking of the Dodgers, they could be without Will Smith for a decent chunk of the playoffs. He has a broken hand.
- Congrats go out to Cal Raleigh. He passed Ken Griffey, Jr. for the franchise record for home runs in a season.
