Canelo Alvarez (63-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) will make one last media appearance at tonight’s “Canelo vs. Crawford” final press conference, streaming LIVE at 8 p.m. ET in the embedded video above. Their super middleweight title fight is locked and loaded for this Sat. night (Sept. 13, 2025) on Netflix from inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fight of the century? That’s a debate for Sunday morning.
“My problem with Canelo is his intensity,” former WBC interim lightweight
champion Ryan Garcia said on Inside the Ring. “He doesn’t have the same intensity that he used to have, and I think that’s gonna be the biggest issue for me. Can he still counterpunch? Yes. Can he still be slick? Yes. But does he have the energy and the intensity that he used to have when he was younger, or even when he fought Caleb Plant?”
“For me, it’s like, is he going to be able to have that second, third effort? Because that’s the problem [Canelo] has,” Garcia continued. “When [Dmitry] Bivol gave him three extra movements and three extra shots [in their 2022 title fight], Canelo ended up doing weird defensive moves that got him out of position. I’m like, ‘What the heck? What’s going on here?‘”
Alvarez rebounded from the Bivol loss to win six straight.
“I’m not sick of people talking about the weight because the more doubters, the bigger the win will be,” Crawford’s trainer, Brian McIntyre, said at Tuesday’s grand arrivals. “I think the difference is the IQ. If you look at Canelo, he has been fighting a certain way for a certain amount of years. But if you look at Bud, he changes his style in the midst of a fight. I think the IQ is going to be the factor.”
