We knew AJ Styles planned to retire from WWE at some point in 2026, but it may be happening sooner in the year than anyone anticipated; the Phenomenal One has already agreed to put his career on the line
against GUNTHER at Royal Rumble on Jan. 31 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
GUNTHER is the man who ended John Cena’s career last month by making him tap out like a little bitch, so a loss for Styles is certainly on the table here.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis realizes the clock may be about to run out on Styles’ career. With that in mind, Aldis posted a video a short while ago on social media offering AJ an invite to this Friday’s (Jan. 23) episode of SmackDown in Montreal.
The current card for SmackDown in Montreal includes:
- Wyatt Sicks (c) vs. MFT for the WWE tag team championship
- Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. Lash Legend & Nia Jax vs. Giulia & Kiana James in a number one contender match for the WWE women’s tag team championship
- Damian Priest vs. Trick Williams
- Nathan Frazer vs. Johnny Gargano
Will AJ Styles return to the house that he built before possibly being forced to retire from WWE in Saudi Arabia? Let me know what you think Styles might do on the blue brand if he does show up tomorrow night, Cagesiders.
