Raw airs tonight (Dec. 29) with a live show from Kia Center in Orlando, Florida. This is the fifth episode of Raw during the nine week build to Royal Rumble, which takes place on January 31 in Saudi Arabia.
The greatest tag team of all-time is running it back in WWE
The Usos recently returned to the tag team division in WWE. After picking up a win over their greatest career rivals, the New Day, the Usos are already scheduled for a title match tonight against World Tag Team Champions Dragon Lee and AJ Styles.
Jimmy and Jey call themselves the greatest tag team of all-time based on their record-breaking title reign with The Bloodline from a few years ago. They plan to close out 2025 as the brand new champions and to begin another long run of dominance. However, Styles and Lee are confident that they will prove to be “better than the best” when all is said and done.
I suppose it’s possible that WWE really is going in on a nostalgia run for Jimmy and Jey with the road to WrestleMania coming up. However, the far more compelling story to tell is one of failure. We all know that the only reason why Jey is back in the tag team division is because he repeatedly failed to win back the world heavyweight championship in the second half of 2025. As a result, he fell back on something he knows he’s the best at. But what if the Usos are no longer the best tag team wrestlers in WWE?
Perhaps Jey will reverse course again or choose a more drastic option if he suffers another devastating loss in a title match. So tune into Raw tonight to see what happens when Jey Uso tries to end 2025 on a high note by running it back with his twin brother to once again bring home championship gold.
The rest of the card
Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer is also booked in a title defense on Raw. She’s going up against Nikki Bella and Raquel Rodriguez in a triple threat match. Vaquer plans to kill two birds with one stone as she puts both of these challengers in her rearview mirror heading into 2026. We know that Liv Morgan really wants to win this belt, so it will be interesting to see if she plays a role in the finish, especially after Raquel stormed off last week in the middle of an argument with her Judgment Day stablemates.
The Vision is set to open Raw, and that will be followed at some point by Austin Theory vs. Rey Mysterio. Has Bron Breakker changed his tune on Theory joining The Vision after last week’s main event tag team victory against CM Punk and Mysterio? Will Paul Heyman convince Bron that Theory can help him win the world heavyweight championship in next week’s match against Punk?
Other stuff to keep an eye on
– GUNTHER seems to be despised backstage by most wrestlers in WWE after making John Cena tap out “like a little bitch” in his retirement match. There are plenty of other wrestlers for GUNTHER to retire next, including AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio, and maybe even Brock Lesnar or Chris Jericho. Is it time for GUNTHER to pick a fight with somebody else, or does he still plan to soak in the reaction to his win over Cena for a while longer?
– Becky Lynch ended her boycott of Raw last week, but she was humiliated once again when she tapped out in the grip of Women’s Intercontinental Champion Maxxine Dupri. Their rematch for the gold happens on next week’s episode. Will Becky get the last laugh on Dupri before their title match, or will The Man spend tonight complaining to GM Adam Pearce about corruption and referee Jessika Carr?
– Things didn’t go Rhea Ripley’s way when she lost a singles match against Asuka last week. How do Ripley and IYO SKY plan to get momentum back on their side heading into next week’s WWE women’s tag team championship match against the Kabuki Warriors?
– Je’Von Evans and Trick Williams are free agents, and NXT Champion Oba Femi might also be on his way to the WWE main roster very soon. Will any of these stars officially join the Raw roster before 2025 comes to a close?
– Does YouTube douchebag Logan Paul want a title shot against fellow douchebag, Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio?
– Will LA Knight send in any promos while he’s recovering from a cracked sternum at the hands of Bronson Reed? Or will the megastar stay quiet until he finds something more interesting to do, such as screwing over The Vision in next week’s title match between Punk and Breakker?
– If Chris Jericho really is returning to WWE in January, could his countdown clock actually appear on tonight’s broadcast?
– Which WWE stars will be the first to declare for the 2026 Royal Rumble matches? Shouldn’t someone like Akira Tozawa get on that ASAP?
– Where the f*** is Rusev?
What will you be looking for on Raw?
